Introduction to culture vocabulary
Language reflects culturally specific worldview, atittudes, values. A usual bilingual dictionary readily provides us with equivalents in another language when we look up a word or word expression.
But we know that very often these equivalents only partially coincide with the original word.
Here are some examples: ремонт, чаепитие, веселиться, махнуть рукой на....
I suggest that we write definitions of some interesting words whose meanings might be vague to non native speakers.
For example:
ZAPOY - An activity in which one subjects themselves to two or more days of continuous drunkenness, sometimes lasting up to a week. Also, it is the Roman Alphabet spelling of "Запой", the Russian word for binge drinking http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=zapoy
