Japanese people

Posted by solonina julia

I think that stereotypes can you believe.

Japanese people are often represented as extremely polite.

Japanese also have a reputation for honourable suicides .Japanese popular culture often baffles other countries.Anime is often ridiculed .The  films are ridiculed for being surrealistic and full of  bad , cheap special effects like for instance men wearing rubber monster suits.

Popular Japanese stereotypes are the geisha, sumo wrestler, samurai and  ninja.

In Japan very popular such food as sushi.

Moscow

Posted by Julia Iovleva

This summer I went to the capital of our native land,to Moscow. For a long time I wanted to visit it.The city is very beautiful, the city center is pure. There are a lot of interesting places there, most of all I was imperened by: Luzhniki,Sokolniki, ВДНХ,the Vorobevy mountains, the Central Department Store, the Moscow State University, Vasily Blazhennogo's cathedral, the Zoo,Pure ponds and I was very strongly amazed by MacDonalds. The heart of Moscow is Red Square , we there walked every day. But not all is so good, I did not like the very dirty Moskva river and traffic jams. And,on a whole, the city is very good. The most convenient way of movement is the underground,it is very fast there again.I hope that soon I will return.

Saving the black poplar

Saving the black poplar

How many countryside walkers would recognise a native black poplar if they were lucky enough to stroll past one? Not many, is probably the answer. Even fewer would know that these trees have been fading from the British landscape for nearly two hundred years.

Black poplars are large, deep, round trees with smokey grey bark, and generally grow to around thirty metres. Female trees are currently more endangered due to their particularly fluffy seeds, which in the past have been considered annoying and resulted in prejudiced planting (герундий); there remain just 2500 black poplars in the UK, of which only 400 are female.

The tree also has an interesting history. Prior to 1850 (when they were still being planted) the trees were heavily involved in British industry. Naturally fire resistant and generally resilient, the timber has been found in buildings, carts and wagons, scaffolding, farm equipment and matches.

Black poplar wood has also been identified (пассив или актив?) in floorboards and arrows on the Mary Rose and in First World War rifle butts. The tree appears in John Constable's famous 1821 painting, The Hay Wain.

The question is, with so many uses, why have the black poplars become as rare a sight in Britain as the Giant Panda in China?

Posted by julia

On the summer vacations i went to Kazakhstan with my parents. It is a big republic. There are very friendly people there.

At that time when we were there, the weather excellent. We lived in the separate house which was very close to the beach ,we went there every day.The beach was amazingly pure,as well as water .And the city is well well-groomed.There were many colors, different sculptures, avenues and parks where we lived.

At leisure we went hiking uphill, under the name "Sinjuha",also we visited museums with scarecrow of different animals, zoos etc. After having a good time,we came to have a bite in any restaurant or cafe. There were excellently prepared dishes there, all was unusual, not as like as in Omsk. The tables were always cleaned ,and the service was fast in institutions.

Amost every day we ate crabs and different mollusks, and in the evenings we went to look at performances og gymnasts. At the end of performance smart salutes started fireworks.

I enjoyed my time in Kazakhstan.I would like to go there one more time.

China

I don't believe in these stereotypes. They are so stupid. For example " Chinese doctor uses strange rituals, drinks, techniques to cure his patient." Yes, they uses techniques, drinks, but It's doesn't mean that they do not use modern medicine. Chinese women don't wear tiny shoes(Carried, but very much for a long time)  and throw babies in the river. The all stereotypes are false .

St.Petersburg

Posted by anna_n

This summer I traveled with my mother in St. Petersburg.First, the city I did not like the airport, in which we arrived was far worse than the Omsk airport, on the street walked the rain, it was dirty and cold, but because of cloudy weather, everything seemed gray and boring. But when the day I arrived in the city center, I was pleasantly surprised. Petersburg was like a big museum: every street and every building moth to tell their story.
We visited several tours: we went to the royal palace, riding on a boat on the canals of St. Petersburg and were on the night tour, dedicated to the sights and bridges of the city. In addition, we are a lot of time walking around the city center, saw sights, monuments, historic buildings.
In general, St.Petersburg I really liked. This city is very beautiful, especially when the sun shines. In St. Petersburg I like: bright buildings, old architecture, cobbled stone streets and little bridges. I would like to visit this city again.

Astana

I was in Astana 3 years ago. A have fallen in love with this city. Astana is a very beautiful city. There are so many fantastic building with very interesting architecture. For example, the circus looks as UFO.
:-o Still there is an egg-shaped house. I was at the main sight of Astana - Bajterek. It's a tall and big building.  I named it chupa-chups.  :-D  If you rise upwards, you will see all Astana, clearly.

The roads are equal, beautiful in Astana.  Although  in comparison with Russian roads, Astana's roads are good. The roads of Astana look like roads in St. Petersburg. Astana is "green city". If you look from above at Astana, you can think that the city is covered by a carpet.

I have had a good time in Astana. :-)

The Swiss

Posted by Angela

I think that stereotypes can be trusted. Swiss neutral country since 1850. Swiss punctual and tidy. They have high-quality watchmaking.

The Swiss eat only Swiss cheese fondue, and chocolate.

This is actually true. And this is a stereotype.

Ireland

I think that stereotypes can you believe. The Irish are usually portrayed as heavy drinkers. Irishmen will always wear green clothes and a clover stitched on their chest. I think, that it is. Irish women will often be depicted as redheaded (especially Green Eyed Redhead). I really believe this stereotype.

The beautiful city of St.-Petersburg

Posted by Angela

Having read once the book about St.-Petersburg, it made me want to visit it very much.
Having arrived in the airport of Pulkovo, I was pleased with its architecture. I went on a sightseeing tour. I liked leaf bridges very much, statues of lions.

After a while I felt that I liked this city. The history of Petersburg is inseparably linked with the person of Russian tsar Peter I. The city is very beautiful, rich, and fantastic. St.-Petersburg is the second-large city. The native land of three revolutions, the last name of the city of Leningrad, tells this city about the leader of the last revolution. There are many big streets and the areas where there are a lot of tourists.
I admired bridges, quays, palaces, monuments, to churches museums, theaters and many other cultural buildings. There there is a beautiful river «The Field». In the evenings I went down the river and sat on a shop, read books. The air was so fresh that I didn’t want to come, and the house, and I wanted to sit and breathe in this pure, fresh air. In Peter the nature is beautiful. There are many beautiful colors on beds, bright trees, the big seagulls over Neva River.

I this city very much liked, it is one of the most remarkable cities of the world. I dream of visiting this city once again.
